Q:   Why the ATI Xpert 2000 32Mb Video Card is detected as ATI Xpert 99 upon driver installation?

A:    Both of the video cards use the same chipset - Range 128, the differences are:  Xpert 2000 comes with 32mb memory that can achieve a high resolution 1920 x 1440, whereas the Xpert 99 has 8mb with optimal resolution up to 1280 x 1024. Windows 9x driver installation detects only according to the chipset and implements the basic model. After the driver installation, manual adjustment has to be done like this: Under Display Property --> Setting --> Advanced… --->Adapter -->Change -->Display a list of all drivers -->Choose Xpert 2000 ( English )

Q:   Second display does not appear;"Multiple Display Support cannot start on this device""Remove EMM386"

A:  These problems occur most frequently when an ATI card equipped with TV OUT (PC2TV) is installed as a SECONDARY display adapter.

          You may see this message on the secondary monitor during Windows 98 startup:

"If you can read this message, Windows has successfully initialized this display adapter. To use this adapter as part of your Windows desktop, open the Display option in the Control Panel and adjust the settings on the Settings tab."

          However, the settings tab in Display Properties only shows a SINGLE monitor. No
          adjustments to the secondary display are possible.

          To resolve this issue, insert "EMMExclude=C000-CFFF" in the [386Enh] section of             the SYSTEM.INI file, as follows:

         1. Open the system.ini file for editing (Click Start, Run, type "system.ini" and click OK
              - this will open the system.ini file in Notepad).
         2. Scroll down to locate the [386Enh] section header in the system.ini file.
         3. Insert a new line under the [386Enh] header which reads EXACTLY as follows:
             EMMExclude=C000-CFFF

4. Save your changes by clicking File, Save, then exit Notepad by clicking File, Exit.
         5. Shutdown Windows 98 and restart.

             Note for Advanced Users: The SIZE of the exclusion required should equal the size of the
                 LARGEST video ROM in the system. C000-CFFF is a safe starting point. Some users may wish to
                 experiment with REDUCING this range. C000-CBFF is the smallest exclusion that is likely to work
